Luckycharms is a desktop application for Windows, distributed exclusively through the Microsoft Store. The app is free; most of its charm collection is available through two optional subscription tiers, Pro and Premium, sold through the Store. These terms cover your use of the application and of this website.

The Store terms come first

Because the app is installed through the Microsoft Store, and because any subscription is bought there too, both are governed by the Microsoft Services Agreement and the Standard Application License Terms shown at install. Where anything below conflicts with those, those win. What follows is what applies in addition to them.

Using the app

The app is free to install, with no in-app account, no licence key, and no usage limit. Three charms are included permanently at no cost: the Nazar Boncuğu, the Maneki-Neko and the Scarab. You may use the app for personal or commercial purposes.

The rest of the charm collection requires an active Pro or Premium subscription, bought inside the app through the Microsoft Store. Pro unlocks the blessings, the rest of the collection, and hanging a picture of your own; Premium unlocks everything Pro does not, the full anime cast, on top of everything Pro includes. Both are entirely optional: without either, the app keeps working, and the free charms keep working.

Everything on this website is free and always will be. Pro and Premium apply only to the Windows app; nothing on these pages is gated behind either or behind payment of any kind.

Your licence and any subscription are attached to your Microsoft account rather than to a file, which means they follow you to every PC you sign in to, within the device limits the Store sets. It also means the app is not yours to redistribute: passing the package to someone else is not permitted.

Payment, renewal and refunds

Microsoft is the seller and merchant of record for both subscription tiers. The price is shown in your own currency, including any applicable tax, before you commit, and it may differ by region, in the same way it does for other subscription apps. This site takes no payment and has no card field, and the app never handles a payment method: we never see, handle, transmit or store your payment details at any point.

Pro and Premium are each billed monthly. Premium includes everything Pro unlocks, so holding both at once is harmless but not necessary. Each renews automatically at the end of its period until you cancel it, which you do through Microsoft Store settings or your Microsoft account, not through us. Cancelling stops the next renewal; access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for, after which the app returns to whatever tier, if any, is still active.

Refunds, cancellations, and any statutory right to cancel are handled by Microsoft under the Store's own refund policy, through your Microsoft account order history, not by us: we hold no record of your transaction and have no ability to reverse it. If the app is faulty or does not work as described, please write to us as well as requesting the refund: it is the only way we hear about it, and we would rather fix it.

Charms may be added to the collection over time. We do not promise any particular charm, or any particular number of them, during a subscription period, and a charm may occasionally have to be withdrawn. What a subscription buys is access to the collection as it stands while the subscription is active.

Prices may change. A change never affects a period you have already paid for, and Microsoft notifies you before a renewal at a new price, giving you the chance to cancel first. The notice comes from them because they hold your contact details and the billing relationship, and we do not.

If a subscription lapses or is cancelled, nothing is deleted and the app does not stop working: it returns to the free charms. Any picture you had set as a custom charm stays on your own machine, untouched, and hanging it again needs only a subscription again.

No warranty

Luckycharms is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. Use of the app is at your own risk. It runs on your machine with no server behind it, so there is no service-level commitment of any kind to offer. Nothing here limits any statutory rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by agreement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any damages arising from the use, or inability to use, Luckycharms, including indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

Acceptable use

Don't use the deep link handler (luckydangle://) or the app itself to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to other people's systems. Don't attempt to circumvent the subscription check, and don't redistribute the app or share access to a subscription beyond what the Store's own terms allow.

If you hang a picture of your own, it stays on your machine. It is never uploaded, and we never see it, so we neither host nor moderate it. Making sure you have the right to use a picture is your responsibility, and on your own screen it is a matter between you and whoever holds that right. Beyond this, there is not much to restrict: the app has no account of its own, no social features, and no way to send anything to anyone.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
