Privacy Policy

This policy covers Luckycharms, the Windows desktop application distributed through the Microsoft Store, and this website at www.luckycharms.app. It applies to every version of the app on the Store and to no other product.

The short version: Luckycharms collects nothing, because it has no way to send anything anywhere. Buying it happens on the Microsoft Store, where Microsoft — not us — takes the payment and holds the customer details. We never receive them.

The desktop application

Luckycharms makes no network call of any kind. The only channel it opens is a local one it uses to talk to itself — a named pipe — so that a second launch can hand off to the copy already running. There is no account, no telemetry pipeline, and no update check: updates arrive through the Store, not from the app.

Your chosen charm, cord colour, and other preferences are stored locally in your own user profile, under %LOCALAPPDATA%. They never leave your machine, and no one but you has access to them. Uninstalling the app removes them.

The deep link handler

The app claims a luckydangle:// handler for your account so that other things on your own machine can bless or change the charm. This handler does not open any network connection; it only reads the link you or your own scripts invoke, and the only things it can be asked to do are things a menu click already does.

System permissions

The app asks for no special permissions and never requests administrator rights or your password. The one thing it reads from outside its own window is your pointer's position, so it knows when you are reaching for the charm — an unprivileged system call that cannot see what you type or what is on your screen.

This website

This site carries no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. There is nothing here watching how you use it. It is a set of static pages with no server-side application behind them: it runs no payment flow, keeps no database, and has no account system, login, or form that submits anything anywhere.

The “hang something of your own” panel processes your photo entirely inside your browser — background removal, cropping, and colour sampling all run as JavaScript on your own device. The image is never uploaded and there is no endpoint on this site that accepts one.

The hosting provider keeps ordinary web server logs — IP address, timestamp, and requested path — for a short period, as any web server does. We do not analyse them or link them to anyone.

Buying the app

Luckycharms is sold exclusively through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft is the seller and the merchant of record: your payment details, billing address, and Microsoft account are collected and held by Microsoft under the Microsoft Privacy Statement, and this site plays no part in it.

What we receive from Microsoft is aggregate sales and diagnostic reporting in Partner Center — counts of purchases, installs, and crashes by market, and reviews you choose to publish. It does not identify you. We are given no name, no email address, no billing address, and no payment information, and there is no way for us to look up an individual purchaser.

Children's privacy

Because nothing is collected from anyone, there is nothing collected from children either.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
